The Trinidad Rancheria is planning to build a 100-room hotel adjacent to its casino in northern California. The hotel is to be located on 0.4 acres at the Cher-Ae Heights Casino. It would be branded as a Hyatt Place property, according to an environmental assessment. “The community here is excited about the potential of the hotel,” David Tyson, the interim director of the Trinidad Rancheria Economic Development Corporation, told The Mad River Union.

The Bureau of Indian Affairs is taking public comment on the project. The environmental assessment was prepared because the tribe is seeking a federal loan guarantee to finance the hotel. The Cher-Ae Heights Indian Community of the Trinidad Rancheria is a Federally Recognized Tribe located near the town of Trinidad, California, organized in 1961 under the Articles of Association.

In June of 2008, the Tribe approved a Constitution which supersedes the Articles of Association and its amendments. The Trinidad Rancheria is governed by the Community Council, from which is elected a Tribal Council—a Chairperson, a Vice-Chairperson, a Secretary-Treasurer and two Members-at-Large.
